Performance Features
Volvo incorporated three powertrains in the design of the 2021 S60. There are T5, T6, and T8 models. The standard engine in each of the models differs. The T5 models have a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower and standard front-wheel drive. The standard engine and drive in the T6 models are the turbo- and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 316 horsepower and all-wheel-drive, respectively.
The T8 models have the highest engine performance thanks to the plug-in hybrid engine that emits an incredible 400 horsepower around Kentwood. The plug-in hybrid has an electric motor at the rear and a lithium-ion battery. It has a low carbon footprint, making it the most eco-friendly model of the Volvo S60s. The standard drive in the T8 models is the all-wheel-drive, similar to the T6 models. There is a new powertrain in the 2021 Volvo S60 that lacked in the previous year models. This is the R-Design Expression, which is a plug-in hybrid similar to the T8 model but is more affordable.
The latest sedan is also economical on fuel with mile per gallon values estimated at 23 and 34 in the city and highway, respectively, for the T5 models. The T6 is the least economical with mpg of 21 and 32 in the city and highway, respectively. In contrast, the T8 models are the most economical on fuel with average mpg values of 30. Furthermore, all engines are equipped with eight-speed automatic transmission.
Technology Features
Volvo uses technology to keep you safe on the road with features such as blind-spot monitoring, driver-assist, and city safety. Here are some of the ways the Volvo S60 can protect you around Rockford, MI.
- City Safety: This is a system that uses cameras and radar to detect objects in the surrounding of your vehicle and prevent accidents. It prevents rear-end collisions by predicting a possible crash and automatically applying brakes.
- Driver-assist: Two features make up the driver-assist; lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control. Lane-keep assist ensures that the driver does not trail out of their lane, while adaptive cruise control lowers the driving force when there is heavy traffic.
- Blind-spot monitoring system: This system works together with cross-traffic alert to warn you of objects in your blind spot.
Volvo also uses technology to keep your rides entertaining. The infotainment system has a 9-inch touchscreen, applications like Pandora and Spotify, dual-zone climate control, type-C USB ports for charging, a 220-watt sound system, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility.
