Thomas Ingenlath’s Contributions to Volvo Design Heralded at Autocar Awards

In a matter of years, Volvo has gone from a brand associated with luxury and safety to becoming one of the most premium brands on the market. Part of that is due to the influence of Thomas Ingenlath, chief of design. He’s headed the styling for two of the three automaker’s he’s worked for, and his touch on recent Volvo models has earned him top honors from Autocar.

This past May, Ingenlath was awarded the “Design Hero” accolade from the publication. Joining the company in 2012, he and his team shaped the 2016 XC90, which went on to win Motor Trend SUV of the Year, and has since become this century’s most awarded utility. Part of the secret to Ingenlath’s touch is drawing on Scandinavian design cues: every model prioritizes clean, uncluttered aesthetics dappled with natural light, and high quality materials.

You can find the results of Ingenlath’s work on the XC90, S90, V90, and all-new XC60, with the XC40 soon to follow! To learn more about the models currently available on our Grand Rapids, MI lot, browse our new Volvo lineup online, and then contact us to fill in the blanks.
